Tesla China officially rolled out the 2026.14.13 in-vehicle system OTA update on July 31. The upgrade package will be released in batches for Model 3, Model Y, Model S and Model X. The highlight of this update is the integration of ByteDance’s Doubao large language model into the vehicle system.Doubao serves as the brand-new native in-car voice assistant. It supports real-time news and weather inquiries as well as smooth multi-turn conversations. Multiple voice tones and three customized personas—General Knowledge Expert, Music Enthusiast and Storyteller—are available for entertainment during drives. Voice commands for navigation, air conditioning, media control and owner’s manual queries are all handled by Doubao. Two key notes: First, access to this AI feature requires Tesla Premium Connectivity subscription. Second, the infotainment system also runs DeepSeek Chat from DeepSeek Inc. Both models are integrated via Volcengine, with clear task division: one handles vehicle control commands and the other supports casual AI conversations.Tesla sealed a cooperation agreement with Volcengine back in August 2025, and this OTA marks the official launch of their joint solution. In contrast, Tesla vehicles sold in the U.S. adopt xAI’s Grok model. Adopting a local large model for the Chinese market represents a milestone in localized intelligent cockpit development. This OTA also brings practical additions including Pet Mode and consolidated trip energy consumption statistics, greatly improving the overall driving experience.
