Google Launches Gemma 4: Runs on Laptops, Free Commercial Use
On April 2, 2026, Google DeepMind officially launched the Gemma 4 open-source LLM series, built on the same technical architecture as Gemini 3. All models are released under the permissive Apache 2.0 license, allowing completely free commercial use for individuals and enterprises. The lineup includes E2B, E4B, 26B MoE and 31B variants, covering deployment from smartphones to servers. The quantized E2B runs on phones with under 1GB memory, while E4B works smoothly on regular laptops with just 8GB RAM, outperforming previous models several times its size on multiple benchmarks. Weights are available on Hugging Face and Kaggle.
