Baidu Releases ERNIE 5.1: Pre-Training Cost Only 6% of Industry, No.1 in China Search
On May 9, Baidu officially released ERNIE 5.1, adopting multi-dimensional elastic pre-training: total parameters reduced to 1/3 of the previous version, active parameters to 1/2, pre-training cost only 6% of industry peers. It ranks 1st in China, 4th globally (1223 points) on LMArena search; agent, reasoning and creative writing capabilities approach top closed-source models. ERNIE 5.1 is available on Qianfan and Yiyan for enterprises and developers, marking China’s large models shifting from “parameter scaling” to “efficiency optimization”.
