Google to Invest Up to $40B in Anthropic, Forging Compute & Ecosystem Ties

On April 27, per WSJ and other outlets, Google plans an initial $10B investment in Anthropic, plus $30B in follow-ups, totaling up to $40B at a $3500–3800B valuation. Google will provide 5GW of TPU compute, deepening ties with Anthropic’s Claude to counter Microsoft–OpenAI and reshape global AI competition.
