OpenAI to Discontinue Sora Service
Six months after the high-profile launch of the standalone Sora app, OpenAI plans to shut down the AI video generation service to streamline its product lineup.
The company launched the Sora app in late September last year, promising users a more convenient way to generate and share realistic AI videos within a quasi-social network. The free app quickly topped Apple’s App Store charts but has since fallen in rankings.
In addition to discontinuing the standalone app, OpenAI will also shut down Sora’s API for developers.
