OpenAI to nearly double headcount to ~8,000 by end-2026 — clear all-in on enterprise & coding tools

Per FT/Bloomberg: OpenAI plans to explode from ~4,500 to ~8,000 employees by Dec 2026, focusing hires on product/eng/research/sales.
Why? Fending off Anthropic/Google while pivoting hard: deprioritize consumer side-projects, double-down on high-productivity use cases (Codex already 2M+ users, ChatGPT becoming a true productivity engine).
