The "International AI Safety Report 2026," co-authored by over 100 experts from more than 30 countries led by Turing Award winner Yoshua Bengio, has been officially released. The report indicates that advancements in General-Purpose AI (AGI) in mathematics, programming, and autonomous operations have far exceeded expectations, with some systems reaching Olympic gold medal standards. However, this leap in capabilities also brings emerging risks such as biosecurity threats, cybersecurity vulnerabilities, and system loss of control. The report calls on global policymakers to immediately establish stricter regulatory frameworks to address potential catastrophic consequences of AI, emphasizing that "safety must take precedence over speed."
